Once upon a time...

There was a prince who knew nothing. He was a prince who loved his people and wanted to express that affection by improving the lives of his citizens. However, all of his attempts to add to his knowledge in order to benefit his people ended in disappointment. Until one day, when the kingdom was hit by a terrible plague. Desperately, the prince turned to a traveling witch for help. He convinced her to cast a spell on him, one which would allow him to truly learn new information. The deal was successful, and the prince was consumed by newfound curiosity. He found himself traveling throughout the land, asking question after question, constantly adding new information to his mind.

However, no matter how many answers the prince received, he found himself unable to do anything other than asking more and more questions....

[So Mytho has had a few weeks that have been eventful in the terms of getting some of his heart shards back. First was affection, which led to him spending more time around Rue. Then there was disappointment, which caused him to be somewhat withdrawn. And most recently, he has regained the desire for knowledge. Ever since last week, he has channeled this into studies. At school, he would be noticeable for asking questions frequently about even the most minor matters.

And this week, he goes around seeking some specific knowledge: the location of Rue. He's unaware that the rogue Malnosso's droids had kidnapped her. So he's been wandering around town, quick to inquire with anyone he sees, especially if he knows that the person in question knows her.]

[Voice]

I don't know where Rue has. Have you seen her? I don't know where she could be...

[He can't stop there. He already has another question on his mind.]

I'd also like to know... How does this book work?

Brown hair, huh? [He offered a friendly smile and leaned forward a little, so they were closer in height.]

Tell me more about Rue. Is...she your sister?

[Because the young man's demeanor seemed too innocent for the missing girl to be anything but a friend or a relative. Cliff was almost reminded of Florian, if his student had been a little more mellow.]

Yes, I'd like to know about her. I've never known anyone who's like Rue...

[He just looks up gently.]

No. I don't believe that we're related at all.

Rue... She's known me for a long time. She helps... to look after me.

[There's a lot more to it then that, involving crows and sinister ballet. But he only relates what she is in the present.]

I don't know, but I've never met anyone who didn't like chicken soup, especially when they were sick.

How do I make it, Emil? I don't know how.

[Yeah, Emil... doesn't quite know that whole part about Rue being the daughter of a raven yet.]

I could go pick up the ingredients at the store and then meet you at your place to show you how to make it. Why don't I do that?

I don't know. Why don't you, Emil? [He asks him back as if it's a genuine question.]

[Whoops. Sometimes Emil forgets that Mytho has a tendency to take things literally.]

Huh? I meant... um, never mind. Where do you live, anyway?

I don't understand what you meant.

I live in the Heart Building. It's... the second room.

On the first floor, right?

Yes.

Rue lives... nearby.

W-well Kamiki is cold, and sometimes harsh. She keeps to herself mostly, and might be hard to make friends with. I don't think she likes me very much, but...

I think she's a nice girl. I really like her a lot.

I see. She sounds very interesting. All those things you've said about her... So Rue is considered to be like that as well?

Almost... Have you checked her room yet?

No.

Currently, I'm holding the doorknob... [He's just been standing there, gripping the doorknob in one hand and the journal in the other.]

Okay, then give me twenty minutes or so to go get the ingredients and I'll meet you there!

Okay.

[He just leaves it at that. And... he stands right there in the hallway quietly until Emil shows up.]

[Sure enough, about twenty minutes later, along comes Emil with a bag full of groceries. Maybe a bit more than they really need ingredients-wise, but he figures Mytho will have a better idea than he does of just what Rue might like in her soup, and besides, he'll just take any leftover ingredients back home with him.

When he sees Mytho, he smiles and heads over to the other boy.]

Sorry it took me so long-- I wanted to make sure I didn't forget anything.

So she's a very good friend, then.

[A warm, understanding smile. Cliff had a friend like that himself, whose support he genuinely missed.]

I think you should open it.

Okay.

[And that pushes him onward - he twists the doorknob, opens the door and stands blankly in the doorway.]

Rue...?

[But there's a frown at the state of the room. And fear.]

Emil...

[He glances towards him with friendly affection, the hint of a smile, while just standing in the middle of the hallway.]

You're here.

I don't think that you should feel sorry at all.

Yes.

Those are the sorts of things... that make someone a good friend? Tell me, what are good friends like?

What does it look like?

It looks like the room Rue lives in.

But... I don't see Rue. And... many of her belongings are on the floor. Why are they like that?
