Heart Shards Plotting Post (V2!)

This is a plotting post for Mytho's heart shards plot within Luceti. Given the recent arrival of our new Duck/Princess Tutu along with most of the others associated with the first iteration of the plot moving on, I've decided to relaunch the plot with a new post.

So: here's the basics, for those unfamiliar with Princess Tutu:

-Mytho is a fairy tale prince who shattered his heart into pieces to seal away a raven.
-These "heart shards" each focus on a different emotion and seek out homes in others' hearts when they are already strongly feeling the emotion.
-The shard will amplify the given emotion in a person's heart, often in a malicious way. The person will often wind up acting selfishly in acting out the trait - it will result in odd behaviors that could be confusing or even hurtful for others. The shard also comes with something that's like a red projection of Mytho who will aid this selfish feeling and soothingly assure the person that it's right to feel this.
-Heart shards can be detected by Duck's own pendant, but only when she's in close proximity of the infected person.
-Duck's magical girl alterego, Princess Tutu, is the one who can "cure" the infection. This is done, yes, through ballet dance. Basically, everything is a bit of a mix of the silly and the sad.

So this is where you come in. Mytho has already regained four of his heart shards during the previous stay of Tutu in Luceti, but there's still 6 more that he can gain at his current canon point. How do you play this out? It's up to you, as the rates at which heart shards completely affect people vary throughout the series. You can have the shard slowly infect them over time, or it can be an instant takeover. And it can be played out simply through a post or a log - whatever you think fits best. Even an Appointments post if they won't show themselves to the village at the time. It just has to be coordinated with Terra so that Duck/Tutu will be able to come across the infected person and try to cure them.

For a rundown of the involved characters:

-Duck/Princess Tutu ([personal profile] clumsyduck) is the one will primarily be involved in the action of the plot and in curing the heart shard infections.
-Mytho ([personal profile] soheartless) aka this guy is the blank guy who will take these heart shards to become a more whole prince instead of acting weird like the rest of you guys. His role is usually reactive, but it is also possible for him to be involved as a target of those infected by the heart shards.
-Rue ([personal profile] untrueheart) is another part of the cast who doesn't have to be directly involved but can possibly play a role at times. Sometimes the heart shard victims do fixate on her. Vil should probably be consulted if you want her to be involved in your infection.

And now, here are the remaining shards. They are listed in the order they appear in the series, but the infections can occur out of order; we already did go out of sequence with the first four. Also, I include examples from show only to help canon blind people to understand how the infections work; but they do not need to wind up being the same as the examples.

Disappointment - Enhances the "feeling of bitter disappointment". In the show, this heart shard came to an aspiring young anteater ballerina after Rue told her that she'd never be as good a dancer as her. The shard drove Anteaterina to try to sabotage Rue by taking Mytho for her own and challenging her place in the advanced class. Now taken by Marco Bott.
Loneliness - In the show, this shard infects a widow who wasn't able to cook as well as her late husband. The shard makes her keep people in her restaurant to make them continuously eat cold and flavorless dishes for free. As a part of curing her, Tutu manages to give her a box of her husband's recipes, so she can make her restaurant successful again. Now taken by Iroh.
Affection - This one basically leads to possessiveness. In the show, it actually winds up entering the heart of... a lamp spirit. This lamp was depressed that she couldn't spread its light/warmth to anyone anymore, but the heart shard leads it to abduct Mytho so that she could keep shining for him forever. Now taken by Shiemi.
Desire for Knowledge - My person favorite, it's almost like the heard shard of asking stoned questions. It doesn't actually possess anyone in the show (well technically it inhabits a river), but it's not hard to imagine how it would go. Basically, this shard likes to just ask questions, no matter how redundant or odd or tactless that may be. And often responds to answers with a "That's strange." Now taken by Haruhi.
Love This is another shard that doesn't wind up affecting anyone, but it is associated with the feeling of love. And is corrupted by Raven's blood via Princess Kraehe, so it could result in a corrupt love. Now taken by Makie Otono-Tachibana.
Pride - This one winds up going to the Ghost Knight, a knight whom had killed even his own lover in service of his duty. The pride shard leads him to accept challengers over and over to try and destroy. Yes, Tutu even dances with this guy. Now taken by Mai.

I would recommend finding a way to watch the show if you need a clearer idea of how it works, although sadly the most convenient ways of watching it have been gone since the plot first started. It may be possible to find clips on Youtube, however, and here is a wiki link that could be helpful (just beware of spoilers). Otherwise, we'll be glad to help in answering questions and sorting out plotting ideas. In any case, hope you understood a majority of this and have fun!

For the actual signing up process? Just reply with what shard you want and initial thoughts/ideas regarding it. You can list additional ones you're interested as well to be accommodating since there was a lot of feedback the first time around - but for the most part it will be first come first served. Enjoy!

Character: Marco Bott
Shard: Disappointment
Ideas: Uh... Highlight for Attack on Titan midseasonish spoilers:

Basically, Marco's been training for three whole years to earn himself a place in the Military Police. Possibly even longer. That's his lifelong dream. Yet, once Jean (or any other castmate) arrives, he'll receive the shocking news that he died before he could realize that dream. And he was so close to getting there. He'd basically already secured his spot in the police and all he needed to do was go through the official enlisting process. So obviously that's a pretty hefty disappointment, right there. All that hard work for nothing.

I'm not entirely sure how the shard would affect Marco. Like, what sort of drastic actions that'd lead to. I could sit down and come up with something really neat and edit it in here once my brain stops being dead.

Edit: Okay, how about this? It manifests itself in a manner similar to anteaterina; that is, a thirst to get better. To keep on improving through extreme means. In this case, that'd mean unwavering training. He'd be moving through the forest with his 3D gear and do some 'target practice' to the point where he does damage to the trees and even attacks a few innocent woodland critters. Slicing the poor things in half is probably overkill (...lol), but there could be a few animals ending up with nasty gashes on their body. If anyone tries to get him to rest, they'll just get rebuffed in a harsh manner.

idk is that any good?

Character: Iroh
Shard: Pride or Loneliness
Ideas: Iroh lost his son Lu Ten during an attack on the great city of Ba Sing Se. The details aren't precisely clear, but it would be assumed his son would have likely been leading an attack as he would have been an officer in the army, and was killed. Iroh in grief then proceeded to stop his 600 day siege of the city and go on a life changing journey before returning home.

If its pride, he can be getting people to train with him, and not stopping for any rest or breaks, just trying to make them stronger and better, without a thought of physical or emotional consequences.

For Loneliness he'd likely try and keep people with him, talking and having tea but unlike usual, the tea would have no flavor to it, and the conversation would be superficial and not particularly caring.

Whichever you think is best!

Hmm...I already have a character involved in this, so please ignore this comment if you get enough takers! It just occurred to me after looking at this list that there were two that could fit Nami; pride or loneliness. So if you need to fill a gap somewhere, I'd be happy to throw her in, but if you get other takers take them first! /o/

I'm thinking I'd like to run with affection for Mai since pride is off the books. I wouldn't mind doing pride though if possible.

Character: Haruhi Suzumiya
Shard: Desire for Knowledge
Ideas: I'm playing this a little more whacky than tragic? I mean the shard's pretty whacky in the show anyway so it's cool. Basically my idea is having her obsess more about her magic studies and obsess more about the idea of parallel worlds because she had a mission about that more and obsess more about knowledge about this world and all sorts of things like that because a lot of her friends have gone home anyway. And the Brigade has shrunken, so she becomes a weird academic the way she did when her and Winry broke up, but manifested more whackily because of the shard.

( Plus: her breaking out of it could produce her desire for more friends / a more interesting world and finally kick off that player plot I've been having sit there forever )

THIS GOT SO POPULAR WHEN I LOOKED AWAY

[personal profile] shamelessness 2013-10-22 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Shiemi Moriyama
Shard: Affection
Ideas:
Shiemi desires friendship, especially so with most of her life being cooped up in her house with only family as socialization. With Yukio, and Izumo gone - and with Silver only recently back - in addition to the LACK OF ROOMMATES despite hard effort...
Yeah she might end up attracting that shard and having it infect her with possessiveness over someone who she wants to become her friend. She could use her Big Bird of Death to help... persuade her abductee.

Character: Uchiha Sasuke
Shard: Love
Ideas: I can't describe to you how perfect it is that this is the remaining shard, if Makie-mun is willing to part with it...

Spoilers for Naruto's later chapters/explanation for the canonblind: In Naruto, the Uchiha clan are able to access extremely powerful magic ("chakra" in the series) focused in their eyes. The intensity and strength of the powers are enhanced by emotion. Uchiha love so completely and so deeply that a loss of love - through death or betrayal - causes a pain and heartache so intense it plummets them into darkness, by which the eye chakra activates as a modus of revenge.

...Shonen series, I know.

Sasuke got his second-level eye power (Sharingan) because he killed his brother, thinking said brother was a traitor - and was then told that nope, just kidding, that brother you loved when you were little was actually a good guy just pretending. He now has the third level because he had his brother's eyes transplanted into his head. :|
/end spoilers

All that said, Sasuke already has a pretty screwed up take on love and bonds and affection. While he is extremely reticent and loath to admit his feelings out loud, there are extremely strong indications in the series that he loves his teammates as much as he loves his brother. This could be easily twisted by a corrupt shard into worry bordering on obsession, stalking, paranoia of betrayal, etc. I'll have to poke the muns of Sakura, Naruto, Kakashi and Itachi to see if any of them are on-board with it, but I wanted to throw this up here first to see what you guys think.
