Once upon a time...

There was a prince who had lost his heart. Every day, he would roam the lands in search of it, longing for those feelings that he once possessed. His journey came to a stop when he found his heart in the clutches of a raven. "I'll return your heart to you under one condition," she said to him. "You must promise to love me and only me." The prince had no choice to accept. As he took his heart back and accepted the raven's hand, she became a beautiful princess.

But the prince's heart itself felt betrayed by this choice. He had never wanted to love a raven, regardless of her beauty. And his heart was left wondering if he could truly love anyone with his entire being...

[At some point after regaining his first heart shard and coming to recognize it as devotion, he finds himself unsure of his next move. And he flickers on the journal feed with some uncertainty - it was difficult to operate. And he stares into the feed uncertainly before speaking.]

This feeling that I feel...

It's the feeling of devotion. I recognize it.

Tell me. When you feel this feeling... What sorts of things do you do with it? How do you express this devotion?

[Afterwards, he wanders through the village, seemingly aimlessly. He spends some time loitering by the fountain and perhaps spontaneously does some ballet. But all the while, he's also seeking Rue, as well as Princess Tutu.]

[ just passing by and... oh, it's spontaneous dancing boy! doing some more spontaneous dancing, it seems. stopping and approaching, but not to interrupt the ballet because wow. ]

[And he dances on. There's always such grace and poise in his movements, but now there's an ounce of emotion added in. Mr. Cat would be proud all over again.

And then he sprints forward followed by a leap to land right in front of Platina, on one foot and with his arms spread out behind him, leaning forward towards her.

He knows her.]

I don't know your name.

[In her recent past, Rue has found the strength for a lot of things.

Just not this thing. Not this feeling the way it sounds in his voice, new and yet so familiar. She shuts the book before her voice betrays all of her feelings too. Acting on an instinct that feels as natural as breathing, she leaves her apartment in a hurry.

It may not be her intention to find him, but find him she does. Dancing. By the fountain. The sight stops her so fast that she flinches.]

[At the time, he's quietly pirouetting in place. Perhaps he sees her out of the corner of his eye. The person he's been looking for. Of course she found him. Just as always.

His twirls gradually slowed until he came to a halt facing Rue. With something vaguely resembling a tug at the corer of his lips.]

Rue.

Hello.

You're dancing.

[A most breathless observation.]

Yes.

[He holds his hand out towards her.]

[More than almost anything else, she knows what that means.

Rue looks down at herself, at her ordinary clothes and plain walking shoes, at how unprepared she feels for any kind of dance.

She finds herself reaching for his hand anyway.]

[He softly grasps her hand, and he pulls her smoothly into a slow dance.]

This is an odd question and thing for you to say out of the blue. ( In her opinion at least. She sets down her sewing and looks at him carefully, trying to see if there's some off about his appearance. ) Did something happen to you earlier? And to answer your question.

... I try to show it in a way I think they would appreciate it. If they like art? Get them books about styles or give them materials they may enjoy. If they like sports? See if I can participate with them. ( A wave of her hand, trying to appear casual. ) Basically letting the individual know I am there for them.

[ Mytho won't find Princess Tutu today, but he will find Duck. Or, rather, she comes upon him while he's practice ballet next to the fountain, and the sight makes her beam with nostalgia.

It's almost like the lake... ]

Mytho! Hello, Mytho! [ She prances right up to him, completely without grace. ]

[Mytho nods softly.]

Yes. Something happened. I regained my feeling of devotion.

Could it even be something such as... dance?

Hello, Duck.

[He says with a little warmth - which is substantial compared to his fully heartless self. She's no Tutu, but he knows that Duck is someone he can trust. So he prances along near her.]

[... Well, isn't that familiar.

Teddy can't feel any ill will though, especially not after Billy told him what Duck had told him. He mulls over the answer he wants to give, his surroundings indicating that he's in the library, and he finds himself looking at the books while he helplessly gestures a little.]

Devotion is like loyalty. So... if you find something you're devoted to, you become dedicated to it. You protect it, you care for it... You look out for it.

[Except his was taken to the extreme not long ago because of that very same thing this guy has right now.]

That is absolutely and wonderfully good to hear. I'm happy that occurred. ( She thinks. Regained. She remembers a conversation they had some time ago. Does that mean she was... No. This has to mean an entirely different thing.

And right, right. He asked a question. )

Dance is a wonderful way to express emotions, period. Especially devotion if you put as much effort into the display. ( He talked about being a ballerina. With what she's been told and had read up lately, sounds like that is right up the alley of what they're speaking about. )

[At first, she stumbles, because coming to terms with Mytho inviting her to dance on a whim, with him wanting to, is somehow harder a second time. Then, it feels like she just goes through the motions, and anytime they face each other she searches his eyes for the thing she most fears.

It's hard not to ache for him, though. Not when he so clearly enjoys what he's doing, and that he's doing it with her.]

[Dancing with Rue brings comfort - it feels natural. Right. And he slowly and gracefuly leads her through the moments, quietly at first. Then he speaks so softly.]

Rue...

I have a feeling.

I heard.

[She can't help that it sounds flat and wobbly, though it is only two words.]

[ She smiles, noting that warmth in his voice. It's barely there, but it's a sign of his returned heart shard. ]

U-um - I haven't seen you for awhile! How are you?

I think that I'm well.

[And he reaches to pull her into the dance.]

You were right, Duck. Princess Tutu truly is here. And she's returned a piece of my heart to me...

[He doesn't pay much notice to her tone - he just goes to twirl her around a bit.]

I didn't know.

The feeling of devotion...

It's very strange.

[And he just nods at her happiness for him - because he doesn't know how else to acknowledge it.]

I see. Those words... they do sounds famliar.

Mr. Cat... He's expressed similar statements...

[Mytho himself shows no signs of recognition - his heart shards don't exactly retain memories, at least not in a way that reaches Mytho's head. But at least now that it's back where it belongs, it's not driving him to the same extreme. Instead, he stares on calmly into the book.]

I see.

Devotion... It calls for protection. [He tries to echo back.]

What's so strange about it? [She remembers the last time, but he was already half-put-together by then.]

For one feeling... It's a lot.

The first time... the first time I felt it...

I wanted to devote myself to Tutu.

[If asked, she will say she stumbled because it's impossible to do these dances well in the wrong shoes no matter how accomplished you are.

That's not really why.]
