Fifth Shard [Action/Voice]

Storybook Intro )

[Action]

[Mytho's been feeling a familiar feeling; one that he hasn't felt in so long.

"A heartache deep down... a desire to see someone and talk to them... Could it possibly be what it feels like to be lonely?"

In fact, it's been quite some time now since he regained the feeling of loneliness. For the most part, he had been wallowing in the feeling ever since; but that recent shift did act as a break from that emotion.

Today, he goes to school; but he isolates himself in class and is generally silent, especially odd considering how inquisitive the desire for knowledge had made him. Mytho leaves during the lunch break and doesn't return to school for the day.

He could be found in several random locations around town, occasionally doubled over in pain as he tends to his heart. Inside, there's a ravenous hunger that is feeding on the loneliness in his heart.

As dusk falls, its power seizes him. There's now a purple flair in his eyes and a sinister smugness in the smile. He roams the village for a bit longer, occasionally breaking out into some ballet moves. And eventually, he settles by the Tsukino Shrine, where he draws crows and ravens to him. More and more of them gather on and around him, while he only smirks.]

[Voice]

[He addresses the journals at some point in the evening; it's uncertain "which" Mytho is speaking.]

Hello... Why don't you tell me, Luceti. Tell me about loneliness. What does that emotion mean to you...?

Fourth Shard [Action/Voice]

Storybook Intro )

[Action]

[So Mytho has had a few weeks that have been eventful in the terms of getting some of his heart shards back. First was affection, which led to him spending more time around Rue. Then there was disappointment, which caused him to be somewhat withdrawn. And most recently, he has regained the desire for knowledge. Ever since last week, he has channeled this into studies. At school, he would be noticeable for asking questions frequently about even the most minor matters.

And this week, he goes around seeking some specific knowledge: the location of Rue. He's unaware that the rogue Malnosso's droids had kidnapped her. So he's been wandering around town, quick to inquire with anyone he sees, especially if he knows that the person in question knows her.]

[Voice]

I don't know where Rue has. Have you seen her? I don't know where she could be...

[He can't stop there. He already has another question on his mind.]

I'd also like to know... How does this book work?

Third Shard [Action]

Storybook intro )

[Action]

[Today, Mytho's wandering around town has something closer resembling meaning to it. Sure, he doesn't live near enough Duck to immediately notice her absence - nor does he come across her path on a daily basis. But he's still searching for her, without stopping. He goes around various locales around the town such as the library, the bakery, the fountain and most places around the plaza. And throughout his search, he specifically looks sad. He had felt that heart shard return to him the previous night, and that emotion - the emotion of sorrow - has been weighing on him ever since.

He will often stop passerby to ask them:]

Excuse me. Have you... seen Duck?

[Or, he may instead ask.]

Do you know... where Tutu is?

[Everyone knows Duck and Tutu, right? But all along, in a way, he knows. They're both gone. He's been able to feel it, ever since he woke up. He's not sure why both Duck and Tutu are associated with his feeling... He just knows that it feels like a piece of his heart is gone.

The search is over when night falls. He sits at the edge of the fountain, wallowing in this sorrow. And wishing he had the strength to try to dance.]

Second Shard [Video/Action] Backdated to the 10th

Cut for storybook intro )

[At some point after regaining his first heart shard and coming to recognize it as devotion, he finds himself unsure of his next move. And he flickers on the journal feed with some uncertainty - it was difficult to operate. And he stares into the feed uncertainly before speaking.]

This feeling that I feel...

It's the feeling of devotion. I recognize it.

Tell me. When you feel this feeling... What sorts of things do you do with it? How do you express this devotion?

[Action]

[Afterwards, he wanders through the village, seemingly aimlessly. He spends some time loitering by the fountain and perhaps spontaneously does some ballet. But all the while, he's also seeking Rue, as well as Princess Tutu.]

First Shard [Action/Video]

[Mytho didn't exactly feel pain or outright confusion upon waking up. It was something more like... a lack of sensation at all, where it seemed like so shortly ago there had been so much sensation. Loneliness, affection, fear, desire for knowledge, sorrow, pride ("I must uphold my pride as a prince.". Love - a corrupted love. He had been becoming a crow. But now all that's gone - all those emotions and most of the thoughts that came with them. It just barely seemed to register with him.

Back to the start? Mytho just laid there - unthinking, unfeeling in general, purely reactive. He didn't strain his mind to try remembering - all those emotions he could no longer feel. Unthinking of the raven's blood that was still flowing in his body regardless...]

[Action]

[A boy who seems to be around sixteen is laying on his back in the middle of town, not feeling the hurt of his wings. Just staring vacantly into the sky, his new journal laying unnoticed by his side.]

[Some time later, someone has shown him how to use the video feed. But he doesn't say anything just yet - he just stares for the moment, waiting for someone else to talk.]

[ooc: Just a few notes! First, a fair warning that Mytho, especially in this stage, is not exactly a conversationalist. Secondly, I forgot to note it in the ooc intro, and I might keep bringing it up in tags like an annoying tutorial, but his name is pronounced "Mute-o" despite the way its spelled, so only seeing his written name could cause confusion with Mithos. And finally, regarding the heart shards plot: I'll update the plotting post later but basically, the heart shards won't necessarily arrive immediately and can arrive gradually whenever the individual infected people are ready to do things with their parts of the plot.]

Plotting Post!

For anyone interested in taking part in this plot, So here's the lowdown on these heart shards.

First of all, Mytho is originally a Prince from a storybook called The Prince and The Raven. Once he came out of the story to enter reality, he sealed the Raven away by using his sword to pierce his heart. These shards were scattered somewhat randomly throughout Gold Crown Town, and most of them wound up seeking out hearts with matching emotions to enter.

Basically, there's a total of 16 known heart shards that each are associated with a different emotion or aspect of one's being. One of them is actually the pendant that allows Duck to become Princess Tutu, and then there are 5 which only come into play in the last episodes. At his current canon point, Mytho has 10 of these heart shards, and he will lose them all upon entry of Luceti.

The way each heart shard works is that they will try to "enter" the heart of someone expressing the matching emotion. The heart shard appears to the person as a red-tinted version of Mytho and will sometimes speak to them to convince them that they're right in following that emotion. The victim seems oblivious to the whole process and will instead begin practicing out the corresponding emotion in excess. This usually produces effects that are negative but not necessarily evil (but they can be). Duck's pendant will eventually detect the presence of the heart shard, and she will confront the victim as Princess Tutu. She uses dance in order to convince the person to stop indulging in that emotion, usually by helping them through their insecurities while dancing with them, in order to get the heart shard to vacate their body. The heart shard will then take on the form of a red stone, and Tutu returns it to Mytho.

Those are tha basics; some specifics may vary depending on the individual shard. But here's a list of them all and a little summary to give you an idea of how they can make characters act - as well as of course to help you choose one to infect your own character with.

*Disappointment: This shard infects an anteater girl named Anteaterina when she was disappointed that Rue saw no potential for her to become as skilled a ballerina as she herself. Acting out of his bitter disappointment, she tried to get revenge on Rue by taking her boyfriend/dance partner and tried to take her place in the advanced class, taking it out on Mytho when she failed. Her own dance also became something much more destructive until Princess Tutu helped her to become comfortable with her heart's true style of dancing, overcoming her disappointment.
*Loneliness: This shard comes to Ebine, whose chef husband has died. Her own cooking has been subpar, but the loneliness shard causes her to force people to try to keep eating her cold and flavorless food forever, while throwing anyone who refuses out of the restaurant. Tutu manages to find her husband's old recipes, which she uses to help her get through her loneliness.
*Sorrow: This shard goes to the ghost of a maiden who died of grief after her love was unrequited. This makes her tempt Mytho with a sprig of rosemary, which would take him to the land of the dead.
*Affection: This shard goes to, of all things, the spirit of a lamp. The lamp liked to show affection by providing a light for others, but she was forgotten by those important to her. Under the influence of the shard, the lamp spirit tries to capture Mytho so that he exclusively receives the affection of her light.
*Fear: This shard infects Paulamoni, the leading lady of a ballet troupe. She had lived up to her dream of portraying Aurora in Sleeping Beauty and was afraid to dream again. This shard enhanced her fear so that she came to panic on-stage. Unlike with the other shards, this time it is Paulamoni's husband who is able to guide her past her fear with his words. The shard is then separated from her and flees Princess Tutu until she can reclaim it.
*Desire for Knowledge This shard is another odd one. Instead of infecting a person, it becomes part of a river and delights in endlessly asking questions of those who talk to it. It actually speaks to Mytho and draws him into the river without threatening his breathing to ask him more questions. This shard was captured by Kraehe at first, and its innocent questioning of Rue helped to drive her into a breakdown, but eventually Tutu was able to return it to Mytho.
*Devotion: This shard infected a painter named Malen. Rue was among the many subjects she painted, but this shard caused her to devote herself into painting only Rue, and it would hurt for her to try otherwise.
*Regret: This shard goes to Fakir's adoptive father, Karon. It enhances his regrets about raising Fakir, which causes him to be harsh on Fakir and to encourage him to give up on his current endeavors so that he won't feel regret. When Tutu dances with him, she excises the regret shard by convincing him to have faith in Fakir.
*Love: This heart shard is unique in that it does not infect anyone. It instead takes on the form of a pendant that passes hands several times. Rue managed to pull it out as it was re-entering Mythos, which had a negative effect on him and made him temporarily lose his other emotions. The climax of the first part of the anime is then Rue and Duck both dancing to try to earn the favor of the love shard, and eventually Duck is the victor. The shard is reunited with Mytho, but it is later revealed that the shard was doused in raven's blood by Rue, which causes him to gain the persona of the Prince of Crows. This shard will still have that infection in Luceti.
*Pride: The straggling last of the 'normal' heart shards, this one winds up infecting a Ghost Knight. In his life, the knight had carried out his duty with pride and had even killed his own lover when he discovered that she was an enemy spy. Even though the knight's battle had ended, the pride shard drove the knight's ghost to keep battling over and over to carry on his pride. Tutu convinced him that this duty was over to get him to relinquish his pride and rest in peace.

So yeah. All that tl;dr aside, if you're interested in having a character affected by one of the shards, comment with the shard of your choosing as well as any initial ideas, and we'll work something out! Of course, with the number of shards, they will be spread out over time, so some volunteers may have some wait until their turn comes.

Heart Shards Plotting Post (V2!)

This is a plotting post for Mytho's heart shards plot within Luceti. Given the recent arrival of our new Duck/Princess Tutu along with most of the others associated with the first iteration of the plot moving on, I've decided to relaunch the plot with a new post.

So: here's the basics, for those unfamiliar with Princess Tutu:

-Mytho is a fairy tale prince who shattered his heart into pieces to seal away a raven.
-These "heart shards" each focus on a different emotion and seek out homes in others' hearts when they are already strongly feeling the emotion.
-The shard will amplify the given emotion in a person's heart, often in a malicious way. The person will often wind up acting selfishly in acting out the trait - it will result in odd behaviors that could be confusing or even hurtful for others. The shard also comes with something that's like a red projection of Mytho who will aid this selfish feeling and soothingly assure the person that it's right to feel this.
-Heart shards can be detected by Duck's own pendant, but only when she's in close proximity of the infected person.
-Duck's magical girl alterego, Princess Tutu, is the one who can "cure" the infection. This is done, yes, through ballet dance. Basically, everything is a bit of a mix of the silly and the sad.

So this is where you come in. Mytho has already regained four of his heart shards during the previous stay of Tutu in Luceti, but there's still 6 more that he can gain at his current canon point. How do you play this out? It's up to you, as the rates at which heart shards completely affect people vary throughout the series. You can have the shard slowly infect them over time, or it can be an instant takeover. And it can be played out simply through a post or a log - whatever you think fits best. Even an Appointments post if they won't show themselves to the village at the time. It just has to be coordinated with Terra so that Duck/Tutu will be able to come across the infected person and try to cure them.

For a rundown of the involved characters:

-Duck/Princess Tutu ([personal profile] clumsyduck) is the one will primarily be involved in the action of the plot and in curing the heart shard infections.
-Mytho ([personal profile] soheartless) aka this guy is the blank guy who will take these heart shards to become a more whole prince instead of acting weird like the rest of you guys. His role is usually reactive, but it is also possible for him to be involved as a target of those infected by the heart shards.
-Rue ([personal profile] untrueheart) is another part of the cast who doesn't have to be directly involved but can possibly play a role at times. Sometimes the heart shard victims do fixate on her. Vil should probably be consulted if you want her to be involved in your infection.

And now, here are the remaining shards. They are listed in the order they appear in the series, but the infections can occur out of order; we already did go out of sequence with the first four. Also, I include examples from show only to help canon blind people to understand how the infections work; but they do not need to wind up being the same as the examples.

Disappointment - Enhances the "feeling of bitter disappointment". In the show, this heart shard came to an aspiring young anteater ballerina after Rue told her that she'd never be as good a dancer as her. The shard drove Anteaterina to try to sabotage Rue by taking Mytho for her own and challenging her place in the advanced class. Now taken by Marco Bott.
Loneliness - In the show, this shard infects a widow who wasn't able to cook as well as her late husband. The shard makes her keep people in her restaurant to make them continuously eat cold and flavorless dishes for free. As a part of curing her, Tutu manages to give her a box of her husband's recipes, so she can make her restaurant successful again. Now taken by Iroh.
Affection - This one basically leads to possessiveness. In the show, it actually winds up entering the heart of... a lamp spirit. This lamp was depressed that she couldn't spread its light/warmth to anyone anymore, but the heart shard leads it to abduct Mytho so that she could keep shining for him forever. Now taken by Shiemi.
Desire for Knowledge - My person favorite, it's almost like the heard shard of asking stoned questions. It doesn't actually possess anyone in the show (well technically it inhabits a river), but it's not hard to imagine how it would go. Basically, this shard likes to just ask questions, no matter how redundant or odd or tactless that may be. And often responds to answers with a "That's strange." Now taken by Haruhi.
Love This is another shard that doesn't wind up affecting anyone, but it is associated with the feeling of love. And is corrupted by Raven's blood via Princess Kraehe, so it could result in a corrupt love. Now taken by Makie Otono-Tachibana.
Pride - This one winds up going to the Ghost Knight, a knight whom had killed even his own lover in service of his duty. The pride shard leads him to accept challengers over and over to try and destroy. Yes, Tutu even dances with this guy. Now taken by Mai.

I would recommend finding a way to watch the show if you need a clearer idea of how it works, although sadly the most convenient ways of watching it have been gone since the plot first started. It may be possible to find clips on Youtube, however, and here is a wiki link that could be helpful (just beware of spoilers). Otherwise, we'll be glad to help in answering questions and sorting out plotting ideas. In any case, hope you understood a majority of this and have fun!

For the actual signing up process? Just reply with what shard you want and initial thoughts/ideas regarding it. You can list additional ones you're interested as well to be accommodating since there was a lot of feedback the first time around - but for the most part it will be first come first served. Enjoy!
